CHTHONIOS BOOKS is a one-man business established in 1985, owned and run by Stephen Ronan.
I do not sell, hire or otherwise disseminate any of your details to any other individual or organisation. I also do not buy or otherwise acquire email addresses or any other personal details from any external source.

HOW DO I KEEP YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS SAFE?

Your personal details are not stored online, or in any form accessible from the Internet. The one exception occurs where you place an order via my Secure Server. These details are, of course, stored securely as they await processing by myself. However, they are automatically removed after 2 days, in any case. My computer is protected at all times by leading-edge Anti-virus and Firewall software, which is kept constantly up-to-date.

People are often worried about transmitting sensitive information, like Credit Cards, by email. But this risk has been greatly exaggerated by the Banking and Credit Card lobby, who have a vested interest in trying to force retailers on to their own, expensive, online Card processing solutions.
In fact, most security breaches concerning Credit Cards on the Internet have occurred with businesses who hold your Card details constantly online, in order to process your order as you shop. These systems do have a fundamental flaw in that holding your details online will mean that they are accessible online. Most breaches of this sort have occurred where disgruntled employees seek to revenge themselves, or blackmail their employers, by stealing their employers’ customer details.

At Chthonios, the only (occasionally) disgruntled employee is Basil the cat, and her computer skills are limited to walking across the keyboard....
